Kingdoms of Camelot - Maximize your Might
80Kingdoms of Camelot
Kingdoms of Camelot is a real time strategy game (RTS) that is played as a Facebook App. This game allows you to build cities, join forces in alliances and build an empire in the times of King Arthur!
If you have never played the game before, do not worry. The application developers did a great job in creating quests to help you learn the game and build you to a point where you have learned the intricacies of gameplay.
You are given one city and a few resources to start the game and you are challenged to grow an army, maintain your city and expand your empire. At different phases of the game, you will need to adjust your play. You will find the tips and tricks to maximize your might and manage your very limited resources.
As you grow your empire, you may be subject to attacks from aggressive players. Learn how to defend yourself without making yourself a rich target for these players.
Maximize your Might
Might is the measure of the game. If you are able to earn 2,000,000 might, you will reach level 60, which is the current cap in the game. The problem is how to reach that cap efficiently. Read my other posts on issues relating to food management.
Knowing that food is the most difficult factor to manage later in the game, there are a few statistics you may look at in determining how best to achieve increased might.
Please note: this analysis does NOT take into account other measures like efficient attacks, speed of attack, or cost to build the troops.
Based on the chart below, the maintenance (food use) per troop is compared to the incremental might of that troop. What does that mean?
Assume you build one militiaman. You will gain one might but will be required to feed that troop three pieces of food per hour. That translates into a 33% efficiency rating.
I rank ordered the most efficient troops in the table below. As you can see, the most efficient way to build your might is with Supply Wagons! Of course, it will not make for a very fun game if you have no attack capabilities.
The most efficient troop to build that has an attack capability is the archer, with a 44% efficiency rating.
The least efficient troop is the catapult which requires a painful 250 food units per hour but only gives ten points of might.

I've been playing KoC a lot, so been reading tips like this - especially since I think I may soon have a bit of a battle (possibly even alliances battle) in the next few days.
I've been comparing Evony and Camelot - and reviewed them both in context of their similarities and differences - http://www.squidoo.com/evony-vs-kingdoms-of-camelo
Well I'm new to the game, but it seems to be a good one.
why do you compute it might/upkeep ?
i think it's best if you do it upkeep / might
with this formula, the lower the better.
This is just another reason again to stay longer in front of the pc. Every new game deserves a try out.
is there a chart somewhere showing how much might is gained from each building?
I think this game is good but i dont get much time on the pc but i get to build and leave it overnight which is a great touch for me, great game
I love this game so much that I can spend the entire day in front of the computer without even noticing it. It just amazing what the technology can do today!
There is a wiki for the game you can find, all the building might's are there. Also, I have to disagree with the way you computed efficiency. Based on that formula, building NO troops, only buildings and field and wall defences is the most efficient way to go. However, you forgot to compute other ways to gather food, such as barbarians. They can be attacked with archers, and can bring in enough food to support an army that eats 1-2 million food per hour (over what your fields bring in). Archers are the "workhorse" unit in KoC.

It amazes me, the technology that must go into these games.
Facebook is so cool!
