Kingdoms of Camelot
80Kingdoms of Camelot
Kingdoms of Camelot is an intricate real time strategy game played inside your Facebook account and search, or click Kingdoms of Camelot.
You begin your adventure as the poor owner of one small city with no walls and a very weak castle. A series of quests will have you building a population, researching new technologies, upgrading your defenses and expanding your kingdom into additional cities.
Follow those tutorial quests very closely and you will learn the intricacies of the game. There is a lot to learn, but once you have it mastered, you will easily manage your second, third, fourth and fifth cities.
Very quickly in the game, you will be given the opportunity to join an alliance. This is a group of 100 people who are all playing for the same team. They want you to succeed and improve your "Might" - the measure of your score in the game. They will always be glad to provide you resources, answer questions, and help defend you as needed.
The Basics on Setting up the Game
Setting up the Game
Watch the video above to see the basics on setting up the game and learning how to find the quest tutorials. It is very simple once you see where to go.
You have four basic views to look at your kingdom:
1. City: The city view lets you look at all of the buildings inside your city walls. This is where your armory, rally point, and cottages (amongst other buildings) will be located.
2. Field: Your fields are outside the city wall. Here you will find farms, sawmills, mines, and quarries.
3. Map: This is the world map. You will see the various types of wilderness, the bogs, other players' cities and barbarian camps. Look closely and you will see demarcation lines that show you where the various province boundaries are located.
4. Court: This shows you your court. It will hopefully play a bigger role as the game matures.
Defending Your City
As you grow your cities, you will be vulnerable to attack from more aggressive players. No need to worry! There are plenty of ways to defend yourself.
Here is a Kingdoms of Camelot Strategy Guide on Defending Your Cities.
Here is another guide on defending your cities.
Do not think that PvP (Player vs Player) is the main point of the game. There are enough ways to make yourself unappealing to aggressive players that you do not need to worry about griefing. Of course, there are plenty of opportunities to engage in PvP if you so desire.
Resource Management
One of the most appealing parts of the game is to find ways to keep a very large army while minimizing the amount of work it takes to keep them fed. There are several ways to find food and many in-game boosts to your production levels. Learn Advanced Food Management techniques to keep your troops well fed.
A BIG part of that is to learn appropriate field management techniques. As the level of your castle increases, you will be given more fields to manage. I personally like to make almost all of them farms to maximize my base production, but other players like to have a more rounded approach.
In the later stages of the game, food management will be extremely challenging, which is why I prefer to have a significant amount of farms.
Alliances
Alliances are the ultimate weapon and the single best defense you can hope for. Join an alliance early to give yourself a competitive advantage over other players.
An alliance is made up of up to 100 players. Each player's Might (the calculation of your points in the game) is added to the alliance total. This cumulative point total determines your alliance's rank in the world.
Learn what to look for in joining an alliance before you devote your time and energy to this group of people. You will definitely want to play with people who enjoy your style.
Knights
Knights are one of the best-kept secrets in the game. I am always amazed at the number of players who do not fully utilize their Knights, or wait before hiring them.
Knights are needed to send an army into battle. You may assign Knights in the Knight's Hall and it is there that you can assign them roles and add their earned skill points. Knights gain skill through time. The longer you have a Knight employed, the higher their skill level will be. That is the number one reason to assign Knights early.
Knights may be assigned to a role to help you produce resources faster, speed up your training of troops and help you research more quickly. Unassigned Knights are available for battle. Read the Kingdoms of Camelot Knights Guide for more detailed information on how to use them to gain a huge advantage over other players.
Divine Inspiration
Through normal game play, you may increase your fields, buildings, castles and walls to level nine. There is, however, a level ten available. You will need to find a rare item called "Divine Inspiration" before you can raise a building to the penultimate level.
Level ten buildings are powerful. Some unlock additional skills and researches and will help you gain resources faster. Depending on your game play style, one building may be more advantageous to build over another when deciding how to use your Divine Inspiration. Learn the various arguments in this Kingdoms of Camelot Tutorial.
Building Additional Cities
As you progress through the game, you will be able to expand your empire by building additional cities. As of September, 2010, players may build up to FIVE cities.
Interesting. I play, but only sporadically. I don't seem to have enough spare time to get truly involved--I'm not in any alliances, I have only 1 knight. I have 2 cities, but neither is under danger of attack as they are too small and under-developed for anyone to bother with. How's that for a defense strategy? LOL
It's kind of fun, but I'm not getting as into it or as involved as I became with Farm Town for a while. (I've let that fall by the wayside, as well...too many other irons in the fire.)

It's a fun game, I played it once before. It does take time to get the gist. What little time I spent playing did intrigue me & certainly peaked my interest enough to play again in the future.
Looks like a very fun and interesting game. Hub up.:)
