This classic Disney tale was produced by Disney in 1950. The story revolves around the poor stepsister who is forced to be the house maid. When she is given the opportunity by her fairy godmother to turn into a beautiful princess and attend a ball, she falls in love with the handsome prince. Realizing she would soon be transformed back into her old self, she runs off, leaving her glass slipper behind.
It is safe to say that Cinderella was the preeminent Disney princess of her time. The tale of Cinderella has been retold countless times and almost every little girl has dreamed of being transformed into beautiful princess for a magical night.
Aurora
Aurora
Princess Aurora, more commonly known as Sleeping Beauty, starred in the 1959 release of Disney's Sleeping Beauty.
At her christening as a baby, the three good fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather attempt to give Aurora blessings, but before the final blessing is given, the mean fairy Maleficent curses the baby to die when she touches a spinning wheel before her sixteenth birthday.
Fortunately, Merryweather eases the spell, and instead of dying, Aurora will fall into a deep sleep, only to be awoken by a kiss from her true love.
This classic Disney film was even nominated for an Academy Award.
Sleeping Beauty also has her own castle in several of Disney's theme parks all around the world and makes routine appearances in the parks. She has been known to appear during many of the wonderful parades as well.
Snow White
Snow White
Snow White first graced the big screen in 1937. Amazingly, she and her lovable Seven Dwarf friends still are as popular as ever.
Hi-Ho Hi-Ho, it's off to work we go... is one of the classic songs of the Disney portfolio that is almost instantly recognizable by people throughout the world.
The story of Snow White is, at its heart, a love story. Her evil step-mother is jealous of Snow White's beauty and orders a member of the staff to take Snow White to the woods and to kill her. Unable to execute the step-mother's orders, he orders Snow White to run. She finds the house of the Seven Dwarves and stays with them until her step-mother visits, disguised as a poor beggar. She gives Snow White a poisonous apple and Snow White falls into a deep sleep, waiting for a kiss from the handsome prince to awaken her.
New Disney Princesses
There is another Princess about ready to make her mark on the Disney empire. Rapunzel, the imprisoned damsel, will be welcomed with another animated masterpiece. There is little doubt that this movie will be greeted with the same exuberance as other classic Disney animations.
The other new Princess is Tiana, from The Princess and the Frog. This high-spirited girl had quite the New Orleans adventure in a fanciful interpretation of the legend of the princess who kissed a frog.
Your young princess will love these sheets, blankets, pillows and room decor. Make sure you tell her a creative bedtime story about her favorite princess.
